6:company 1:me
A student’s first day in his engineering college, course 101 in Mathematics. He is just overwhelmed that after all the relentless preparations and untiring days (I should say nights) of cramming and learning had finally paid and his dream to be in this class is now a reality.
Six years have passed and now he is working as a software engineer in one of the reputed companies. Life has changed dramatically for him. Writing lines and lines of code, sitting with computer for more than 3/4th of the 24 hours, given to him by GOD in a day, is a daily routine. He has a fixed time to set out for office in the morning at 9 am but doesn’t really knows what time will he back. He is so lost in chasing deadlines and proving a point(dunno what that point is ) that even his parents complaint about having no conversations with him for a whole week at times. He just bought a brand new car but only to park it in the office parking for the whole day. He buys new clothes but that too to show it off to the person sitting next to him in his cubical.
Ooh hope I didn’t bore you by telling too many details about somebody else’s life’s misery, or is that you are going through a vicarious feeling right now thinking, hey! that person is me. Well if you are thinking that you are not totally wrong because I can vouch for 99% if not 100 % of the people in IT fraternity that this lifestyle is very true. People are so much engaged in work that the radii of social circles of people are shrinking. You don’t have time for family, friends, girl/boy- friends.
Is this the kind of life you want, especially after putting in so much effort in getting into a good engineering college and then even more hard work to pass through that college? Is this what people aim for, that once in 7 days they’ll get time to rest, catch up with family and friends and do everything else in life. Does this not mean that out of every 7 days of my life I live 6 days for my company and 1 day for my self? Which means 52 days in a year and at times even less.
Well this one of those days when you wait and think where your life is heading and today also I couldn’t come up with a satisfactory answer. But I guess I’ll have to end here ‘cos my deadline for the day doesn’t allow me to write a word more.

yah..so true i guess for most of the software people, first its the four full years of computers, computers, computers
and little else.
Then its the project manager, team lead, deadlines, project parties etc etc for the next two years in your respective computer
company.
And somewhere along this winding, confused journey of computers you stay latenights, you make friends girl/boy, you work, you flirt(not all ;))but hey dude.. guess there is not so much to worry about, wat all is required is a lil management. Management which helps
you focus on what's really important to you and actively balance the often conflicting demands of career and personal life.
what i think One should balance their demands and then decide upon the intrinsic importance that you've got to assign
to your projects and life goals, rather than arbitrarily filling every slot in your whole day. This kind of scheduling
allows you to spend your time and energy on what matters to you the most(like can everyday takeout few hours for your lovely parents may be by skipping some phone calls or some tv shows :)). You can be self-directed, and know that you are
working toward long term goals while still managing your day to day routine.
Huh too much of lecture types, actually this is what m trying to apply to my life style, but have failed many a times but
still trying hard to fix these fundas in place so just thought to share this with you.cool na!!!hope u didnt get too much bored!!
Imagine if every thursday your shoes exploded if you tied them the usual way .This happens to us aal the time with computers, and nobody thinks of complaining.
U know why...???
Coz artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.
And yes we have to work harder now..
Coz..
Programming today is a race between s/w enggs. striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the
universe trying to build bigger and better idiots. So far,the universe is winning....
So my dear programmer...keep on enlighting the world with bunch of bytes as u must be knowing that "Rome was not
built in one day" ;))))

easier said than done buddy... me too have been trying to achieve that dreamy "Time Management" but then you do succumb to the work pressure always n the management goes haywire.... I might sound pessimist here but m lookin for some real workable practical solutions :(
